ShaperShifter Launch Night: Surf, Art & Stories Collide

Updated: 3 days ago

On the 26th of April, something special happened at Feast Studio in Torquay. After months of shaping, writing, and dreaming, we officially launched ShaperShifter — a book that celebrates surfboard design, personal evolution, and the rhythm of a life shaped by waves.

But this wasn’t just a book launch. It was a gathering of community, creativity, and culture. We brought together 14 artists from around Australia, each contributing their vision to a series of 10 one-of-a-kind surfboards I shaped exclusively for the night. Each board became a canvas — a fusion of foam, resin, and imagination — and these pieces are now available for purchase through our online store.

The energy was electric.

We had live music from The Goodwood, a young local surf band that filled the studio with their raw, coastal sound. A bar, wood-fired pizza, and a massive raffle (with prizes including a Gomez/Verdure eco board and a Vissla premium wetsuit) kept things buzzing well into the evening.

By the end of the night, I’d signed nearly 100 books and spoken with countless surfers, readers, shapers, and dreamers. An estimated 400 to 500 people came through — and every single one reminded me why this journey matters.

More than anything, this event was a celebration of what happens when surf culture, design, and community come together. It was the perfect way to launch ShaperShifter — not just as a book, but as a living conversation.

Grateful for everyone who showed up, shared a story, played a song, bought a book, or just had a drink and soaked it all in.
This is just the beginning.

Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes stories, shaping insights, and creative journeys — right here on the Journal.
